Despite the many advances that our nation has made toward equal rights for LGBT people in the last few years, sexual orientation is still not included as a federal protected class. This means that LGBT people are not fully protected by anti-discrimination laws and can legally be turned away from employment and housing simply for being who they are. It's time for this to change by including sexual orientation as a protected class under federal law.
