A previous petition to remove the phrase "In God We Trust" was rejected on the grounds that religion belongs in the public square, as it is a part of our heritage.
We are indeed a nation of many different faiths and non-faiths, as was said by President Obama in his inaugural address. It is because of this that we respectfully request that the phrase on our currency reflect the great diversity of beliefs in our country.
Instead of just the monotheistic reference to God, we ask that there also be references to other religions' beliefs, as well as nonreligious phrases, included on our currency.
A few examples might be: "In Goddess We Trust," "In Gods We Trust," or "In Logic We Trust."
Thank you for taking the time to read and sign this petition.
