Extraterrestrial beings, otherwise known as aliens, are rather prominent figures in many works of fiction. Quite a few of these works, however, either depict the aliens as being evil or our government choosing the plan "Shoot first ask later". I propose, instead of being recognized by other species observing us as nothing more than warmongering apes, we create an organization that will: a) Help communications with these extraterrestrial beings, and b) Assist those that wish to live on our planet by integrating them into our society.
Not only will this help us, as a planet, improve our standing in the galaxy and beyond, but this will also: a) Provide jobs for American citizens; b) Introduce us to other cultures; and c) Increase our standing as a technologically advanced country.
