Increase 2013 Flexible Spending Accounts to $5000, thus, Reducing the Strain on Middle Class and Ensuring Quality Care.

Created by T.D. on November 15, 2012

reconsider the amount of monies allowed in 2013 FSA. The $2500 amount is unreasonable for insurable costs, much less needs not covered by insurance. The amount has been unlimited and possibly abused by some. We understand that reductions are needed to stop the abuse. However, going from unlimited to $2500 will create an enormous strain on the middle class. We propose that the amount be raised to $5000/person. We believe this will still provide a protection against abuse, but will also provide reasonable funds for those who rely on this for medical and other needs. Many insurance plans do not cover therapies for Special Needs children, supplements, or preventive care. This will assist in covering more of the out-of-pocket expenses that have become extremely high.
