The Internet faces challenges as a result of the exhaustion of IPv4 addresses. As a result, a gray market has developed for the remaining IPv4 address space encouraging unfair trade, price gouging, and a divide of the existing Internet where some Internet resources are only available utilizing IPv4 or IPv6.
The US federal government should become leaders in promoting IPv6 adoption by creating an Executive Order requiring all electronic resources in the .gov, .us, and .mil domain name space be dual stack and reachable over both IPv4 and IPv6.
