The United States now has the greatest inequality of wealth of any developed nation. Almost all productivity gains over the past 35 years from computer automation and off-shoring are going to the top one percent, while more and more of the rest of us are being thrust into poverty, as we fight each other for the jobs that remain. Boosting the EITC will put sorely needed money in working families' pockets.
Restoring top marginal income tax rates to those of the Eisenhower administration and enforcing tax laws on international corporations will provide the needed revenue for this and other investments, including education.
Everyone will benefit, as increased consumption will multiply business activity.
