increase already existing taxes on firearms and ammo to fund state safety, education, and mental health programs.

Created by E.W. on December 18, 2012

We ask the Obama administration to raise the already existing federal tax on firearms and ammo to raise revenue for specific state programs. Furthermore, if Congress decides to not reenact an assault weapons ban, then a higher tax percentage should be especially brought upon assault weapons and its ammo. The increase will specifically fund local police and fire departments, local public schools, and future and existing state mental health facilities that provide inpatient long term care for people with mental illness who are at risk for violence and outpatient care counselors who specialize in at risk youth and counselors who specialize in PTSD diagnosed soldiers returning from combat.
