Alzheimer's Disease is a degenerative brain disorder that affects more than 5 million Americans. It destroys brain cells and the neurons that connect brain cells. The average life expectancy after diagnosis is 8 to 10 years although medications can increase life expectancy. Unfortunately most of these medications have not been thoroughly tested so there isn't a proven link between life expectancy and medicine. Alzheimer's Disease can't be cured but research has indicated possible causes for it such as the Tau protein. More funding is needed to develop a cure to Alzheimer's Disease and end the hardships faced by the millions of people who have it.
