The maximum amount anyone is allowed to deduct for student loan interest is $2,500. This amount can be further reduced if your income is over certain limits for your filing status. For most people this refers to your adjusted gross income (AGI). If your filing status is: married filing jointly with AGI over $125,000 or if your filing status is either single, head of household or qualifying widower and your AGI is over $60,000, then the amount of student loan interest you are allowed to deduct is reduced.
Please increase the amount of student loan interest that can be deducted and simply remove the AGI based reductions.
