Increase awareness of how to handle sexual assault within the judicial system and police

Created by S.T. on September 26, 2011

Sexual assault and rape victims rarely turn to the police or the court for help. Not only is this part of the mindset of these victims, it is also because there is so little justice for victims. People who are acting like S.A. victims are often viewed as seeming like they are lying about the incident because of how little people know about rape. Many people who do go to police, end up being traumatized more by police and set further back in healing because of them. Not to mention rapists very rarely get tried or found guilty. And these are crimes that affect a person for the rest of their life; some of these victims feeling it is a crime worse than murder since they have to live with it. They deserve justice, and to be treated correctly in the aftermath. There should be more training.
