According the the NEA website, their appropriations report a budget of $138,383,218. Given that the total expenditures for the entirety of U.S. bubbled over $3.8 trillion, this discrepancy is astounding. Throughout history, societies that have progressed have done so not only through the furthering of more traditional academic studies, but also through an explosion of creativity. Where would the western world be without the great creative thinkers of The Renaissance? Government-funded art is more than just a hand-out program. It is an investment in the prosperity and embracing the diversity of ability available in our great country. Please, allow for more art to be funded by giving more to the National Endowment for the Arts.
