This petition aims to increase federal funding of public education by cutting 10% from the yearly defense budget. Currently the United States spends over 700 billion on military spending. We lead the world in this category. China comes in second spending 150 billion. 10% would hardly dent American military dominance. Increasing education funding helps eliminate poverty, and also contributes to the continuing of American global leadership. The duty of our government should prepare the future generations of Americans with the highest quality education on the planet.
