In the face of more tangible opponents, we are forgetting the frightening strength of another enemy -- that of diseases, of poverty, and of cancer. Since 2004, Federal funding for science research has been falling dramatically, while it has been increasing by 10% per year in China, Korea, and many other nations. There are veterans in our country waiting for treatment to help save their life, and children with cancer waiting in hospital beds for a cure. We cannot afford to cut our long-term growth short, and we cannot afford to cut our possibilities short. We must act to increase science research in order to reaffirm the strength of America, continue the progress of America, and contribute to the prosperity of the people of America.
