increase the federal gasoline tax to the level necessary to fully fund the US Highway Trust Fund.

Created by T.B. on May 16, 2014

The Federal gasoline tax has not been raised since 1994. Our roads are crumbling due to a lack of funding. A gasoline tax is the fairest way to fund road repair. The more a vehicle is driven the more gasoline tax would be paid.
A gasoline tax is the easiest and fairest way to pay for road maintenance. A idea of adding tolls to highways has been publicized, this is not a fair approach and only targets highway drivers on certain roads, it the era of the GPS it would be easy to alter routes to avoid toll plazas.
