Increase funding for the Federal Work Study Program
According to the Department of Education, Federal Work Study Program’s goal is to give “part-time employment to help needy students to finance the costs of post-secondary education”. Since fiscal year 2007, the funding for the federal work study program has hovered around $980,000,000, though educational costs have by no means leveled out.
According to College Board, tuition and fees have continued to increase, with average tuition rising by 3.8% from 2012-13 and 2013-14 as well as the average net price for school.
This petition kindly asks the administration to act now to increase funding for the Federal Work Study Program proportionate to the percent increase of the costs of higher education.
