Income taxes, property taxes, vehicle and registration taxes and fees, inheritance taxes, re-taxed on SSI and retirement income,.....ect
Perhaps it's time to look at STIFF registration fees and modest taxes levied, yearly, on each firearm owned, maybe even based upon a citizens tax bracket. And even stiffer fines in arrears (or backs fees) penalties in arrears & taxes in arrears if ever an owner is gound to have failed to register each and every firearm. An ban on assault weapons and high capacity magazines doesn't seem to have accomplished much. All guns may need to be taken into consideration.
