Increase funding for autism and other brain and medical research. Cutbacks right at the cusp of breakthroughs are crazy

Created by S.W. on February 04, 2014

The tools for autism and other brain research -- almost miraculous imaging of live brains in real time, genetic analysis, ultrasensitive EEGs, are all coming together and can be directed at brain disorders, so we are poised to make remarkable progress.
The cost of brain disease, particularly autism, which requires lifelong care of the effected child, and Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, which require very expensive care at the end of life, is huge.
But just when so much can be done, the funding is being cut back because of the federal deficit -- even though research can and does lead to patents and big international medicine sales. Medical research is the best investment we can make and brain research is among the best of the best.
