Increase funding for the Dept. of Education from 5% of the total Federal budget to 20%-50% by 2016 at the latest

The intent of this petition is to increase the amount of the total Federal budget allocated to the Department of Education from the current 5% to at least 20% or as much as 50% instead and do it no later than 2016. We the people need knowledge, experience, skills, and practice. Public education exists. Stop letting it wither and die. We need more teachers and we need to create more desire for people to teach in the first place by increasing teaching salaries. People are choosing to teach because they can't afford to. Correct this error and close the widening breach in our Nation's ability to train the next generation with one decisive act. Fund. Education. Now.
