A new forefront in science today is epigenetics, which refers to external modifications to DNA that turn genes “on” and “off". In other words, gene expression can be controlled though environmental factors. Gene expression being effected by the environment is something unheard of before in the scientific world and could be the newest way to treat and cure many debilitating diseases. However, in order for the development of epigenetic treatments to become prominent, funding is needed.
