Increase funding for mental health education and treatment, & change mental health laws to help prevent gun violence.

Created by S.M. on April 07, 2013

Mass gun atrocities are committed by dangerously mentally ill people who have been allowed to stop or avoid treatment because of well-meaning laws intended to protect their rights. Family & friends feel powerless to help. The consequence is that innocent people are hurt and killed by the dangerously mentally ill who would never have committed such acts if they had obtained & continued treatment. The mentally ill have the responsibility to accept the treatment that will allow them to function as safe members of society. The Mental Health Codes & laws must be changed, The Mental Health Parity Act must be finalized, and family & others must be empowered to report dangerous people, confident that they will be protected and that the individual will be promptly evaluated & given treatment.
