Increase Funding for Positive Train Control- Make Our Railroads Safer

Created by K.H. on May 29, 2015

Experts have called for Amtrak to use PTC for decades. As far back as 1990, The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) stated that PTC was high on their list for transportation safety improvements. On October 16, 2008, President George W. Bush signed the Rail Improvement Act of 2008, which promised to make PTC a reality. But funding cuts and shortfalls over the years have delayed the full rollout of this system, and inaction by Congress certainly isn’t helping.

Congress should be making sure our trains are as safe as possible -- not taking more and more money away from Amtrak’s infrastructure.

I don’t want to ever see another avoidable train disaster. Sign my petition, and tell Congress to make Amtrak safer by fully funding the Positive Train Control system.
