Investment in research spurs job creation, improved quality of life and training of a technologically skilled labor force making the return of investing in research much better than many other investments. We would like the United States to double the extramural research and grants funding for the National Institutes of Health from $32 to 64 billion dollars, triple the funding of research dollars for the National Science Foundation from $7.2 to 22 billion dollars and increase the funding of NASA by 50% by 2016.
