Increase Funding for Science

Created by A.Z. on February 12, 2013

Americans have lost interest in science. Our lack of scientists and engineers continues to hurt our economy, and our lack of science majors reduces the amount of good science teachers, creating a vicious cycle. We need to reinvigorate an interest in science and incentivize students to major in science by providing jobs in research and teaching. The way to do this is the increase the federal budget for NASA and for NSF. In fact, in an interview, Astrophysicist Neil DeGrasse Tyson promised that with twice as much money (i.e., 1% instead of 0.5% of the federal budget), NASA could get to Mars in ten years. Let's make that a reality!
