Increase Good Time Allowance for Federal Inmates. A 10% reduction in the federal prisons would save $660 million a year.

Created by P.I. on March 02, 2013

Right now the Bureau of Prisons gives each inmate the opportunity to earn 87.1% or 47 days a year for good behavior. The arguement with this is the BOP states they give you 54 days but if you do the calculation (365-54) / 365 = 85.2% This petition is to grant prisoners the extra 7 days goodtime days that the BOP states it's giving to them.If you do the calculations the extra 7 days would save $660 million a year if not more because this is only estimating that 10% of the inmates will recieve the full amount of time off. The BOP is operating at 38% over capacity rate. Let's start utilizing some of our other resources to save money (RRC,CCC or Home Confinment). There has been 2 bills that haven't made it through to become law the Barber Amendment and HR 1475. Please help us see this through!
