Increase government spending on education, and science to levels equal to or greater than defense spending.

Created by S.R. on November 05, 2013

The 2012 Federal Taxpayer Receipt can be found at the following location: http://www.whitehouse.gov/2012-taxreceipt

According to this resource, the percent of federal tax dollars allocated to "National Defense" is 24.64%. The percent of federal tax dollars allocated to "Education and Job Training" and "Science, Space, and Technology Programs" are 3.30% and 1.06%, respectively.

This disproportionality in the allocation of our federal tax revenue sends the wrong message to the world, and more importantly, to our youth. We the people ask that our government spend less money on violence and more money on bettering our people. In the future, our government should cut military spending to a level lower than education and science, and reallocate the funding to these latter programs.
