Increase gun control and focus on taking care of people instead

Created by C.J. on December 19, 2012

People don't need guns. They are not a necessity for life. Things that ARE necessities, however, include healthcare (including mental healthcare), security, and safety. Lawmakers need to start focusing on helping people who are mentally unstable, like those who carried out these shootings, and need to place more importance on Americans living healthy lives and not hurting people than they do on the right to own a gun.

Gun buyers should have to undergo a mental health evaluation and background check, and should have to provide a legitimate reason for this need. I implore our government to place more importance on the issue of gun control and on helping people. Politics as usual isn’t working. We need to help those struggling with mental illness and keep everyone safe. We need help.
