A massive earthquake of 7.9 magnitude has struck Nepal causing widespread destruction and loss of life. Friends of Nepal are grateful to the American people and the international community for their help.
On April 26th, Sec. of State Kerry’s announced $1 million in US aid to Nepal. Alongside commitments including $2 million from Indonesia, $4.5 million from Australia and New Zealand, $5 million from Canada, and $7 million from the United Kingdom, these contributions will help with the immediate humanitarian catastrophe.
At the same time, it is clear that more humanitarian aid is needed, and the United States can play a larger role in providing financial assistance. This petition urges the US government to substantially increase their initial financial commitment of aid to Nepal.
