increase the individual and roth IRA retirement contribution limits for those who do not have employee sponsored plans

Created by J.K. on July 29, 2015

I believe the retirement contribution system has a fundamental flaw. Specifically, it favors large businesses which have formal retirement plans. These formal retirement plans are so complex that they are often cost prohibitive for small businesses.

A large business can offer a 401(k) plan that allows retirement contributions of $18,500.00 annually.

However, many individuals employed by small businesses do not have formal retirement plans and are left to place their savings in a traditional or roth IRAs that are capped at $5,500.00 annually.

Thus, a small business employee can only contribute 1/3 as much as if s/he were employed by company with a formal retirement plan. Please increase the traditional and roth IRA limits for employees who do not have a formal retirement plans.
