Medicare funding has been decreasing at an alarming rate. Doctors and hospitals break even or lose money on Medicare. All Medicare taxes go to funding healthcare for the elderly. As the baby boomer generation begins to retire, funding for Medicare and payments to healthcare organizations will decrease. This puts the very fabric of our healthcare system at risk. Many healthcare workers are resisting entering the healthcare filed (especially family practice doctors) because of this decrease.
