In 2009 we saw a very long awaited increase to 7.25/hr as minimum wage in the U.S. With that said, the economy has suffered greatly to the point that people are not even looking for jobs because of the lack of pay. 580 dollars every two weeks gross is what you would earn at minimum wage biweekly. Yes, that's before taxes. For most americans this would barely pay for daycare for your kids and a tank of gas so why work? Why not live off government funding instead. Minimum wage needs to be increased so we can see an influx of opportunity for the citizens of the U.S.
