This petition is for the federal government to require employers to pay a living wage to their employees. $7.25 is not enough to satisfy the basic needs of a human being.
The degree to which poverty exists in the Unites States is reprehensible and inexcusable. It is within the means of most employers to pay a living wage, but they choose profit over what is humane.
A living wage is within the best interests of everyone and must be implemented into labor laws. With the extraordinary amount of wealth our country has, there is no justifiable reason for such a large percentage of the American population to live under such conditions.
