The average minimum wage is around $7/hour. There is talk of raising this to around $10/hour. This is still not a living wage for most families. Many workers (who on average have 2 jobs) are still receiving government assistance in the form of Food Stamps. They are simply not being payed enough to survive.
In 2009, there was a large stimulus package given to large corporations, who were for the most part, responsible for The Great Recession. Where was the consideration for the small business enterprise, or the common worker?
To fund this we should enforce higher taxes on larger corporations, who on average, spend close to zero in taxes. Reduce tax loopholes for corporations and force them to pay their fare share of taxes.
