Increase the minimum wage so that tax dollars are not being used to subsidize very large, and profitable, corporations. Too many minimum wage earners receive Food Stamps, Medicaid, and Housing Assistance, etc... There are those who would say that this would cost jobs in a time of very high unemployment, I say that during times of high unemployment large corporations do not have any incentive to pay more than minimum wage in order to attract and retain employees. High unemployment also allows them to find enough people to increase the number of part-time employees to avoid the cost of full-time benifits. And this time let’s incorporate an annual cost of living increase so that we do not have to continue to revisit this area.
