Within the Hospitality industry, "Front of the House" service personnel are paid substandard wages because they are considered "tipped employees". As the federal minimum wage continues to rise, the exception of tipped employees does not. For far over a decade, minimum wage for tipped employees has not risen at the rate that "FMW" has and with the economy still in a down slide in many states, tips are not as easily achieved. Ultimately forcing restaurant employees to use federal and state assistance which the tax payers pay for when it is easily affordable by the ever growing and expanding pockets of Mr./Mrs./CEO's pockets.
