An increase in the minimum wage would have a positive effect on families and it would stimulate the economy.

Raising the minimum wage would raise the incomes of 28 million Americans. Women would particularly benefit from this because they are unfortunately payed less than men. Middle or low income families would use this to buy gas, groceries, clothes and this money would immediately be invested back into the economy. That means regular people, not the super-wealthy who tend to invest in finical products would have that extra money to provide for their families. This would fight against income inequality. If the minimum wage were raised to at least $10 per hour (which would still put it below the minimum wage in 1968), this would release at least $60 billion over two years into the economy. A higher minimum wage would also help to mitigate abusive, exploitative working practices by employers.
