Increase NASA's budget to one percent of the federal budget.

What do LED TVs, memory foam, and laser Eye surgery have in common?

The core technologies in these products and services were developed by NASA employees to solve problems faced by the space program.

Sadly due to the budget cuts and a lack of interest in space exploration, the NASA budget has eroded from its high of 4.41% to .48% of the federal budget. Still, for those who would moan that this money could be “better spent back on Earth,” I would simply say that all of this money is spent on Earth — it creates jobs and provides business to companies, just as any other government program does. Studies have shown that for ever dollar spent on NASA there is a 8 dollar benefit to the economy as a whole.

We as a nation can not stand by as others fill the void left by us.
