Increase NASA's budget in response to the injuries caused by a 10,000 ton asteroid that hit Russia Friday.

Created by Z.P. on February 18, 2013

Last Friday (February 15th) a 10,000 ton asteroid landed in the city of Chelyabinsk in Russia. More then 1,000 injuries were recorded from its 500 kiloton blast (a power equivalent to that of a nuclear weapon.) This asteroid was undetected by the current technology used to track meteor and asteroid activity.

The asteroid that hit landed in a relatively low population area, but even a much smaller asteroid landing in a highly populated city such as New York or DC could cause unimaginable destruction.

The threat of asteroid collisions needs to be considered a serious threat, and addressed by our government within the coming weeks.

"There are estimated to be more than 10,000 near Earth asteroids that could destroy a major city and a hundred that would end civilization."
