increase the national budget for NASA by 100% by decreasing defense spending.

Created by J.L. on January 15, 2013

The national defense budget is in excess of 600 Billion dollars with only 3.5 to 8.7 Billion of that money going toward defense satellites which then accounts for between 20 and 50% of NASA's total budget. With the privatization of space exploration becoming more prevalent, the risks to national security through private technologies are growing and must be addressed. Space will be the new battleground for the future. Precautions need to be made to include but not limited to: Near Earth Object detection and contingencies if an impact is imminent, manned space flight, alternative propulsion systems, trans-space-time communication (because we don't want to have to wait an hour to get a signal if we are on Europa) and SETI and jobs for Americans.
