In order to meet the increasing healthcare needs of citizens in The United States, additional physicians are needed. Cuts to GME (General Medical Education), which is a key for public medical schools undermine the need to train additional physicians.
We the People, feel that cuts to GME will harm the healthcare system of the United States. It is against the interest of the people to allow these budgetary cuts.
Additionally, the number of residency slots open to graduates of medical school programs needs to be increased to meet the ever rising demand for healthcare, especially in states that have a physician shortage. This is an issue for public safety and health.
Population growth and the aging Baby Boomer generation make this a particularly serious issue
