By increasing the number of days students spend in school from 180 days to 220 days, more students will attain proficiency in the skills necessary to compete in the growing global market. Many other countries have 220 day school years. Limiting American school children to 180 days puts them at a marked disadvantage. Therefore, increase the number of school days to 220 days per year for students in grades 1 - 12.
