The Fukushima plant was a disaster, there is no doubt about that; however, this tragedy does not prove that nuclear power is dangerous.
The fact is that the Fukushima plant was already past its useful life; it had -- it had, in fact, been schedule to be decomissioned several years prior to the earthquake, but its life was extended because there was no available alternatives.
The plant withstood a 9.0 earthquake and a tsunami, and only then, it failed because of a small oversight in a system designed decades ago.
Nuclear power has become safer and more economical since the time the Fukushima plant was built. It is time, not to run afraid from nuclear power, but to embrace it and to encourage its further safe development.
