For too long, Rapists have received slap-wrist penalties compared to some of the not-so-harmful crimes that can land someone decades in prison. It's sad that you can get more time in prison for pirating a movie than for raping someone, causing them trauma, distress, and h*ll.
I propose that violation of 10 U.S.C § 920 (sexual assault / rape) be upgraded to a Class 1 felony, bringing the minimum penalty to life in prison, or death penalty.
It is time we take rape seriously and as disgusting as a crime as it really is.
