Increase the pre tax commuter allowance and reduce the cost of ridership for metro-north trains.

Created by J.G. on November 12, 2012

Seek increased government subsidization of transportation costs on public transportation to the suburbs of NYC. Government controls must be put in place on the MTA, especially on how and where they spend money/require increase funding. In light of the upcoming ticket increase of 16.7% that comes less then two years from the last substantial increase.

Such an increase is being request in light of no other options for commuters to NYC, effectively using their monopoly power over public transportation to squeeze even more money out of our pockets. This is all occurring during a time of increased ridership and the Obama administrations insistence on public wellbeing.

Ideas include:
Increase pretax commuter benefits
Competition
Increase subsidization of the railroad with stipulations
