Dr. Shakil Afridi was involved in a CIA scheme to help the United States government confirm that Usama Bin Laden (UBL) was in fact in Abbottabad, Pakistan. Dr. Afridi was no American citizen, and yet risked his life, in order to help the US take out UBL, the most dangerous man of our generation.
Dr Afridi was not able to escape Pakistan in time after the infamous raid on UBL's compound, and was arrested in Pakistan for treason (for helping the US). It is our responsibility as American's to do the right thing, and get Afridi freed at all cost.
Turning our backs on Afridi, could lead to future intelligence breakdowns, as informants may hesitate to assist the US due to fear of being "thrown under the bus". We must get Afridi freed for the sake of security and morality.
