Increase the quality of american mixed nuts by reducing filler.

Created by R.S. on May 10, 2014

For too long we have sat by quietly as the quality of american mixed nuts has declined. A few years ago, one could open a can of nuts secure in the knowledge that even though there looked like a lot of peanuts, one was sure to find enough pecans and cashews to make the hunt worthwhile. Over the years almonds have gone from a rarity, put there to add a contrasting darker tone and interesting variation in shape to break up the sea of light brown lumps to a "filler nut", simply added because it's cost-efficient to do so. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy an almond as much as the next guy. But these filler almonds are crowding out much more enjoyable nuts such as pecans and cashews! I come to you today with a simple plea for greater representation of quality nuts in the nut industry.
