Drivers 65 and older are 16% more likely to cause an accident, and by 2025 they will constitute 25% of the driving population. (Rand Corp.)
To ensure the safety of our loved ones, both young and old, we propose that those above the age of 65 be required to take a road test and eye exam once every four years. Similarly, for those under the age of 65, road tests will also be required once every eight years in an attempt to evaluate and ensure responsible driving, especially from new drivers. These tests will inform licensed drivers of any new laws and regulations, while also assessing their current driving techniques. Through these preventive measures, we hope to decrease vehicular accidents and promote safe driving.
