Increase safety of meats and the meatpacking industry by reinstating yearly factory and surprise visits.

Eric Schlosser, bestselling author of "Fast Food Nation" describes horrible scenes of slaughterhouses with unsafe working conditions and extremely low pay for the workers, unclean factories, and diseased animals. This petition is to ask the government to do something that is long overdue: increase USDA inspections in factories, especially those that supply the fast food giants. The factories have not only been responsible for releasing diseased meat (with Salmonella and E.coli) but also paying factory managers to decrease injuries while the companies speed up assembly lines. Low-paid workers who have injuries are sometimes given the wrong diagnosis and given a day or two off or a lower-skill job and most injuries are never written down. Many log books have been proven incorrect in court.
