When the United States was created, our Founding Fathers had in mind a lower body of congress that grew with the population and continued to represent the people through a fair ratio that allowed more and more Americans to contribute their voice to the people's business.
Since World War I, however, the number of representatives has been locked at 435, despite a population increase of over 200 million since then. Whereas the founders believed we would have too many representatives, we now have too few.
We thus implore the Obama administration to pursue a policy of enlarging the House of Representatives and bring down the ratio of representatives from 1:700,000 to a more sensible number to foster the growth of democracy and allowing more Americans to "connect" with their government.
