This petition is made to bring to attention that Washington Road in Augusta, GA is simply not big enough to effectively handle the overgrowth of traffic in the mornings and afternoons during rush hours. The often causes people to be late for work or children to be late for school because of a sudden traffic jam simply because the largest road in Augusta only has two lanes. I believe that if Washington Road was expanded to have three lanes for each side, the traffic would be a lot more easily dealt with. This may take some work and money to complete, but if we have the funds , then having the road more open will quickly increase effective worker ability and make traveling from uptown to downtown a lot quicker, instead of having to sit in traffic for nearly an hour to travel a few miles.
