The cumulative student loan debt exceeded $1 trillion dollars this year, but the current tax law only allows for a deduction of $2,500 on tax statements. The problem is new graduates are entering the work force with an average debt of over $26,000 in student loans. Taxing new graduates who could otherwise use their money to build wealth and pay down debt faster would be a net benefit to the economy and increasing the amount of student loan interest for tax purposes is a prudent reform necessary to improve the national economy.
If you believe increasing the deduction for student loan interest, then you should sign this petition.
